Cabane à sucre

The last event of the year offered by the language school of the university was a traditional one: the sugar shack. In a cabin on the Île d’Orléans we were served several dishes flavored with maple syrup such as lentil soup, baked beans, potatoes and ham.

While waiting for the next course, an animator with an accordion made us sing, dance and play traditional instruments. We also sang Christmas songs from our home countries.

For desert we had pancakes with maple syrup and pure syrup poured in the snow to be picked up and to be eaten like a popsicle.
